Denise Buonanno Artiste Autodidacte Peintre-Ecrivain et Muse

Denise Buonanno Artiste Autodidacte Peintre-Ecrivain et Muse
THE ARTIST:

DENISE BUONANNO: A bohemian in an oasis of coulours!
Denise Buonanno, her paintings are a series of happy events of simple pleasures and pursuits of life, things which have an instant appeal to all of us. They are accomplished with a singular absence of obvious detail, provoking a keener interest in the subject matter, with an obvious love for her country spirited illusion of sunshine.

As a stage actress, writer and an inspired artist, she is motived by the beauty of nature, the drama and excitement of life. Her art express her love of the natural forces and all that symbolizes nature's creation, captured on canvas.

Born in France, Denise's childhood was thrown into turmoil by the loss of her family during the 2nd W. War. A victim of circumstances, she became rebellious and her fierce fighter for her freedom.
Un happy with the rigid French education system, she left school at an early age and escaped into the world of fashion. She met the renowned fashion designer, Valentino, who was then struggling to make a living and she recalls with nostalgia their rendez-vous at the Café de Paris over hot chocolate and croissant. Valentino wanted her to become a model but having learned much from him, she decided to work as a modelist for Paquin an Dior.

From modeling, she went into motherhood and later set up her life in Mauritius Island where she met Malcolm de Chazal, a renowned Mauritius painter and writer. It was him who brought back her strength in arts and writing.
She later became her Muse and source of many inspirations.

Denise Buonanno, was a self taught artist at first, but under the guidance of her daughter Lisbeth she started to perform her art. She followed Lisbeth to China and came under the tutorship of XU Ren Long, a prominent artist, who is now the Director of the Beijing Museum.
She studied Chinese calligraphy and nature at its best from him. Denise enjoys painting scenes where she would like to live or where she can lose herself, bringing colours to her life.
Denise Buonanno self taught artist depicts a fictional world of her own as a traveller of the minds.

She possess the rare magic of exploring the mystery of the souls, loneliness and search for lost innocence through her pictorial works as well as her disillusioned crafted novels.

She can't contain her curiosity and explores all aspects of people behaviour with irony, causticity and poesies. Her short novels are an elegiac meditation on the lost of meaning of life.

As a painter shes achieves a psychological naturalism using increasingly pronounced brushstrokes.

As a multi-faceted artist her depiction of women being : nomad, lonely girl, peasants... celebrates their rebirth.

She let us enter in her perception of art and space in her attempt to capture the subject's personality and social environment.

She works on the effect of light and colors : a quiet complexity of the other side of her touch : yellow seems to be her favourite in using oil as her medium and she loves vibrant and dynamic colours giving strength and firmness about her painting.
Denise now lives in France. Her successful art exhibitions include France, Germany, Mauritius Island, Singapore and Vietnam.
